This customer in Warrington had paid for a lovely kitchen to be installed by a kitchen fitter/handyman and he decided to add a few more sockets and move the existing ones.
A few months after the kitchen was finished all the sockets stopped working, Electrical Faults Fixed was called out to investigate the loss of power and had a strong feeling something was drastically wrong with the wiring and needed further investigation.
We went out and discovered multiple spurs off of spurs around the kitchen, the socket ring main was now broken and the sockets had all new cables so therefore there had to be joints behind the splash back.
With no other option, the splash back had to come off - thankfully in one piece - to inspect the wiring. We found all the hidden joints which were completely inaccessible in the event of a fault and all the cables were not in the correct zones.
We are going back very soon to rewire the whole kitchen and put it right. This could of ended very badly and potentially caused a fire. Always choose a qualifed and registered electrician to do your electrical work.
